Several members of the Ithaca, NY, division have been volunteering with Mutual Aid Tompkins, in particular with the Food Sharing Cabinets project. These cabinets, with a "Take what you need, leave what you can" motto, are distributed throughout the county and are stocked with food from anonymous volunteers and local grocery stores. Recently Theresa and Guven, working with a think tank of people using mobility devices (e.g. wheelchairs, scooters), designed a food cabinet to be more accessible. The first one was built by Guven and is now in use. Theresa assisted with getting several grants from the county to fund this and buy more food, toiletries, paper goods, etc. for the cabinets.
